Minister of Information Meets with Meta’s Regional Director

Minister of Information Dr. Khaled Zaarour met with Fares Akkad, Regional Director for Meta in the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss potential areas of cooperation between the Ministry and the company.

The meeting addressed the role of Meta’s platforms in enhancing communication between government institutions and citizens, as well as ways to leverage these platforms to foster direct engagement with the public, ensure user safety in Syria, and curb the spread of misinformation and rumors.

Furthermore, Mr. Akkad exchanged views with Mohammad Tafran, Assistant Minister for Digital Media and Development, and the Ministry’s specialized team, regarding ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Ministry and Meta in the field of digital media.
